Motherhood just means being at the beck and call of your babies, at least, initially. And that’s exactly what we see with Kiara. After her foster mom invites her over for a cuddle in the video shared by @mythologicaldogs, the sweet rescue happily climbs up and melts into the affection, looking like she’s finally stealing a minute for herself. It doesn’t last long. The moment one particularly noisy tiny baby cries out, the mama dog is right behind her foster mom, making sure everything is okay.

The video opens with Kiara standing in the middle of the living room while her foster mom pats the couch and calls her over for a cuddle. It looks like she is debating whether she has the time, but soon she’s curled up against her human. Her head is resting on her chest, and she is soaking up every bit of attention she can get between caring for five growing puppies.

A little while later, it’s time to visit the nursery. One puppy has clearly discovered just how loud he can be. Max is happily yelling at full volume while his foster mom laughs, tells him he’s adorable, and wonders why he’s always making so much noise. Before she can finish admiring another puppy’s sweet little face, Kiara appears beside them and gives her baby a reassuring lick, checking that everything is exactly as it should be.

She climbs into the puppy bed next, weaving carefully around the sleepy little bodies before settling beside them. Their foster mom later shares that the puppies will soon be trying food for the very first time, hoping it gives Kiara a small break after spending every hour looking after them. She also laughs that they’re finally starting to look less like squirrels and more like actual dogs.
